recreation departments
Recreation Departments offer recreational and leisure opportunities for all ages, from toddlers, teens to adults, at a price that can't be beat. Most communities limit enrollment to residents only, however, select programs may be open to non-residents if space is still available after resident registration.
In addition to sports, fitness, enrichment, cultural events, summer programs and other seasonal activities, many Recreation Departments also sponsor bus trips to major events and offer discount tickets to many ski areas and amusement parks in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
Facilities include parks with walking/fitness trails, playgrounds and sports fields, and often include community pools, tennis and basketball courts, skate parks, ice skating and golf. Recreation facilities and equipment may be available for rental.
Program and registration information is typically distributed to residents through newsletters, local schools or email and is also available online through municipal websites.

team sports
Information about registration for organized sports teams is distributed through local schools, newspapers, and Recreation Departments. Your Recreation Department is your best contact for locating current sports teams. Recreation Departments, PAL and Ys sponsor additional organized sports.

Fall sports include soccer, football and cheerleading. Winter sports include wrestling, basketball and hockey. Spring sports include track, baseball, softball and lacrosse. Off-season indoor leagues and summer traveling teams offer additional training and more competitive play. Registration and tryouts, if required, usually begin during the preceding season.

Consult League Lineup and League Athletics, online communities of team websites, where you can search registered teams, camps and associations in your area by zip code, sport or level.
